A Kanban Board is a visual signboard that shows you the work to be done, the work in progress, and the work completed. They are great way for teams to manage tasks in their projects or in their departments or in their locations.
You can have any number of Kanban boards in Projectal and create them for your:
- Companies
- Projects
- Departments
- Locations
- Teams
- Staff
Kanban Boards are made of three parts:
- Kanban cards
- Kanban columns
- Kanban limits
Kanban Cards
Each task in a project has its own card. A Kanban card contains information such as the task name, description, dates, assigned staff and more. Kanban cards can be different colors to help visualize who is responsible, or to identify them as parts of a larger whole. You can customize and color your cards as you wish in Projectal.
In Projectal, you can click on each card to see full details about the task via the Edit Task screen.
Kanban Columns
A Kanban board has columns and each column represents a different workflow stage in your project. The cards move through the columns to indicate where a task is in the production process. You can specify and order the columns as you wish in Projectal.
The typical columns in a Kanban board are Ready, In Progress and Completed. You may also want to have Client Review, Client Sign-off, Change Order and so on.
In Projectal, here is always a Backlog column on the left your Kanban board. This columns lists all tasks that are waiting to be added into one of your designated columns on your Kanban board.
When you are ready to take a card (or task) off your Kanban board, you can move it to Archive Task on the right.
Kanban Limits
It is common to limit the number of cards (or tasks) in columns on your Kanban board so that your team do not become overloaded with work or become distracted by too many tasks. In Projectal, you can set the card limit for each column so that you know when there are too many cards.
