Modified on Thu, 15 Sep 2022 at 06:29 PM

If you wish to create data views that are date sensitive, then you can use the Date Interval features in Projectal to automatically adjust your data views for the date intervals you wish to see.

Example: You wish to create a report that shows the number of tasks completed each month for the past 12 months.

Keyword: Use Today's Date

To use the Date Interval features in data views, you need to make use of Use Today's Date keyword.  This is a special date keyword is used by Projectal to show date intervals.

In the Edit Data View screen, you need to add a rule that utilizes this keyword.  Here's an example:

In this example, we have added a rule that the finish date of the task must be before today's date.  Now, we can use the Date Interval features to view different date intervals that we are interested in.

To view data using Projectal's Date Interval features, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the data view in the left sidebar and click on it to open it.
  2. Click the Date Settings button on the data view screen toolbar to display a popup menu.  There are 3 modes to choose from:
    • View Current Data
    • View data By Date
    • View Data As Time Series

View Current Data

Click this menu item to see the data as of today.  There are no Date Interval features available in this mode.

View Data By Date

Click this menu item to see all the data in the data view at a particular date.  This lets you see the result in your data view when that date interval is used.

Choose the date that you wish to use and Projectal will retrieve the results in your data view.

Example: You wish to see the number of tasks completed and the overall time taken in the month of July 2023.

View Data As Time Series

Click this menu item to see a particular column of data from the data view over a range of date intervals.  This lets you see the results in a time series of a particular data attribute over a chosen date range.

Choose the date range that you wish to see and Projectal will retrieve the results in your data view for the chosen data attribute.

Example: You wish to see the number of tasks completed each month over the past 12 months.
