Every project in Projectal has a project dashboard (or summary).
Project dashboards display key data about a project. You can configure a project dashboard as you like. You can hide and show Projectal's predefined widgets and you can create your own widgets. You can move or resize the widgets on project dashboards.
Getting to a Project Dashboard
To display a project dashboard, follow these steps:
- Click on Projects on the left sidebar.
- On the Projects screen, locate and click on the project that you wish to view.
- The project dashboard will now be displayed for that project.
Tip: Once you have selected a project to view, you can switch to the Dashboard (or Summary), Tasks view, Gantt view, Staff Usage view and Kanban Board view by clicking the 5 menu items under Projects on the left sidebar.
Dashboard Widgets
There are 4 types of widgets that you can display on a project dashboard:
- Standard widgets. Standard widgets are the set of predefined widgets in Projectal that show key metrics for a project.
- Launchpad widgets. Launchpad widgets are custom widgets that you can create to add to a project dashboard so you can easily access your applications. For example, create a launchpad widget to start your company's shot tracking software or asset management software.
- Data View widgets. Data View widgets are fully dynamic and interactive widgets that can show a tab from your data views. This allows you to have the following data view widgets on your dashboard:
- Sheet widgets. Sheet widgets show tabular spreadsheet reports about projects, tasks, departments, costs and more,
- Gantt Chart widgets. Gantt chart widgets are interactive, visual Gantt charts showing the timeline of your projects and tasks.
- Staff Usage widgets. Staff usage widgets show you interactive staff usage heat maps across your company's locations, departments, projects and more.
- Kanban Board widgets. Kanban board widgets show you interactive, visual Kanban boards for your projects and tasks.
- Chart widgets. Chart widgets display visual charts and graphs of numerical or time-based data from projects, tasks and more.
Adding and Removing Widgets on your Project Dashboard
Click the Edit Dashboard button in the top right corner of the project dashboard to display the Dashboard Settings screen. This lets you select Projectal's predefined standard widgets or create your own widgets.
Project Dashboard Views
You can create and switch to multiple views of project dashboards so that you can see different widgets and data depending on your needs. Click the Save As Dashboard View menu item in the top right corner of the project dashboard to create a dashboard view.
Unlocking your Project Dashboard
By default, project dashboards are locked. This means you cannot move or resize any of the widgets on project dashboards.
If you wish unlock a project dashboard, click the Lock Dashboard switch on the top right corner of the project dashboard. You will see the project dashboard changes its mode and you can now use your mouse to move widgets on the dashboard and resize them. After moving or resizing the dashboard, click the Lock Dashboard switch to lock it again.
Permissions
The data that you are allowed to see on your project dashboards is controlled by the permissions that you have been allocated in your user account in Projectal.
