What are Departments in Projectal?

Modified on Fri, 05 Aug 2022 at 04:45 PM

Companies are often divided into departments to make functions more organized and orderly.  Projectal lets you enter your departments so that you can have your organization chart (or org chart)  represented in Projectal and associate your staff in their corresponding department(s).

There is no limit to the number of departments you can enter into Projectal.

Departments can have a hierarchy.  There is no limit to this hierarchy.  For example, the Human Resources department may be under the Administration department.

Once you have created your departments, then you can add your staff to these departments.  This provides you with an org chart of your company and makes it easier to understand your staff pool.

Syncing with Human Resources (HR) tools

If your organization uses a HR tool and it already contains your departments and org chart, then it may be best for Projectal to automatically sync the departments and org chart from your HR tool.  This eliminates double entry and keeps Projectal up-to-date whenever changes are made in your HR tool.

Using the Projectal API, webhooks and Python library, connectors can be created to sync HR data from popular HR tools into Projectal.  Contact the Projectal Support team to inquire about their library of pre-built connectors that are available to you as a Projectal customer - including BambooHR, Xero and more.  Or, the Projectal Support team can assist to get you up and running with a new connector for your HR tool.
