To edit a department into Projectal, follow these steps:
- Go to the Management screen by clicking Management on the left sidebar.
- Click the Departments button to display the Departments screen.
- Select a department and click the Edit button on the Departments screen toolbar.
- This will display the Edit Department screen.
Parent Company and Department
A department either belongs under a company or under another department. This is how you can create a hierarchy for your company's org chart.
Click the Select button to select the company or department that the new department is under.
Tip: It the department is under company and is not a department under another department, then select the company as the parent company.
Click the Remove button to remove the selected company or department and have the department be under the primary company.
Name
Enter the name of the department.
ID
Enter an optional identifier of the department. It could be the short code for the department.
Tags
Select tags or type in tags to help categorize or classify the department. There are two ways to add tags:
- Click the Add Tag button to display the Tags screen. Select tags from your existing collection of tags and they will be associated with the department.
- Or, click inside the Tags editor and a new empty tag will be displayed. Type in the name of the tag you want and press Enter to save the new tag. As you type your tag name, a list of existing tags that partially match the typed text will be displayed and you can choose one of them for faster tag entry.
Color
Click the color swatch to set or clear the color for the department. The color can used in other screens to highlight items by department.
Notes
Click the Add Note button to add a note about the department. You can add as many notes as you like. They are listed chronologically.
View Staff
Click the View Staff button to display all staff belonging to this department.
