After you make your changes in your sandbox, you may want to publish (or merge or sync) your sandbox's changes into the Live system.
To publish a sandbox into the Live system, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Live button in the top right corner of Projectal. It will display a popup menu.
2. Select the sandbox you wish to publish.
3. Once the sandbox has been loaded, click Publish Sandbox from the popup menu to display the Publish Sandbox screen.
4. All changes that you have made in your sandbox will be listed. Click on cells in the Sandbox Action column to view the changes that have been made.
5. Select which items you wish to publish by selecting or de-selecting the checkboxes on each row. Only the items that are selected will be previewed and published.
Tip: If you wish to publish all your channges in your sandbox, then make sure all items are selected.
Tip: If you only wish to publish certain items from your sandbox, then there may be cases that you need to select other items as well since they may relate to the change that you wish to publish. For example, if you wish to publish a new booking assignment to a new staff, then both the staff and the booking will need to be selected since they were both created in your sandbox.
6. After making your selections, click the Preview button. This checks all your changes to make sure they can be published safely into your Live system. The preview results are displayed in the Preview Result column:
- Ready To Be Published: The sandbox change is ready to be pubished into the Live system.
- Failed: The sandbox change cannot be published into the Live system. Click on the cell to view the reasons why it cannot be published.
7. When there no more problems listed from previewing, then you can click the Publish button. This will publish your selected sandbox changes into the Live system. The results will be displayed in the Publish Result column:
- Published: The sandbox change has been successfully synced into the Live system.
- Failed: The sandbox change could not be synced into the Live system. Click on the cell to view the reasons for the failure.
- Not Published: The sandbox change has not yet been published into the Live system.
8. After publishing your sandbox, you can close the Publish Sandbox screen and change over to the Live. system to see your changes
Important: After publishing your sandbox, it is highly recommended to delete your sandbox and create a new sandbox when you next need one. Keeping sandboxes for a long time can lead to your sandbox and the Live system getting out of sync. This can lead to publishing issues that will be difficult for you to understand.
