Using Number Of Units to Understand Resource Quotas

Modified on Tue, 23 Apr 2024 at 12:35 PM

Number Of Units is a great way in Projectal to see how many resources are required for current projects and your upcoming projects.

To view number of units metrics in Resource Planner, select Number Of Units on the Units menu on the Resource Planner toolbar.  Once selected, then usage data will show the number of units for each resource required for each timescale cell (example, each day, week, month or year).

By using grouping, you can see the number of units metrics for your departments, locations and more.

Example: To view the number of units requirements for your departments, turn on Departments on the Grouping menu, then turn on Number Of Units on the Units menu and turn on Usage on the Show menu.

Example: To view the number of units requirements for your office locations, turn on Locations on the Grouping menu, then turn on Number Of Units on the Units menu and turn on Usage on the Show menu.

If a cell is colored red, then this alerts you that the number of resources exceeds the quota of resources available.  This over allocation is a risk to the company whereby the resources may not be able available for the work in the time allocated.

Hover your mouse over a number of units cell and it will display the number of units required and the number of units available in that day, week, month or year.

Click on the number of units cell to view the tasks allocated for that day, week, month or year.

Tip: You can specify the quota (or how many units) for a resource by editing the resource and filling in the Quota field.
