- Click the Skills button to display the Skills screen.
- Click the Add button on the Skills screen toolbar.
- This will display the New Skill screen.
Name

Tags
Select tags or type in tags to help categorize or classify the skill. There are two ways to add tags:
- Click the Add Tag button to display the Tags screen. Select tags from your existing collection of tags and they will be associated with the skill.
- Or, click inside the Tags editor and a new empty tag will be displayed. Type in the name of the tag you want and press Enter to save the new tag. As you type your tag name, a list of existing tags that partially match the typed text will be displayed and you can choose one of them for faster tag entry.
Color

Auto Scheduling Estimate
An advanced feature of Projectal is to let you Projectal adjust the duration of tasks based on the skill levels of staff members that you assign to tasks.
For example, if a task required 10 days to complete for a staff member with mid-level skills, then it would typically take less time to complete if you assigned a staff member to the task with senior-level skills, or it would typically take longer to complete if you assigned a staff member to the task with junior-level skills.
In the Auto Scheduling Estimate section, you can define how much more or less time you think it would take senior, mid or junior level staff with this skill.
To enter estimate values into the New Skill screen, then you need to estimate the following:
- If a staff member with senior level skills takes 5 days to complete a task, then how long do you think it would take a staff member with mid-level skills. For example, if you think the same amount of time, then enter 5, or if you think 50% longer, then enter 7.5, or if you think twice as long, then enter 10.
- If a staff member with senior level skills takes 5 days to complete a task, then how long do you think it would take a staff member with junior-level skills. For example, if you think the same amount of time, then enter 5, or if you think 50% longer, then enter 7.5, or if you think twice as long, then enter 10.
Tip: If you do not want Projectal changing duration values of your tasks, then set the mid-level and junior-level estimate values to be 5 and the duration values of tasks will not be adjusted.
Tip: To see these different duration estimates in use, you should go to the Auto Assign Staff screen and turn on the Adjust task duration to match the skill level of the selected staff settings.
Tip: You can change the names and number of skill levels to match the way your company works using the Lists screen.
