Changing the Order of Tasks

Modified on Fri, 09 Jun 2023 at 04:14 PM

In projects, your tasks will typically need to follow a certain sequence or order so that the project is completed successfully.

You can set the order of tasks in your projects by simply dragging your tasks into their correct position.

To move a task in Projectal, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Projects screen by clicking Projects on the left sidebar.
  2. Find the project you wish to work on and click on it to enter the project.
  3. Click on Tasks or Gantt on the left sidebar to enter the Tasks view or Gantt view of the project.
  4. Find the task you wish to move and click on its gripper in the first column in the Tasks screen or Gantt screen.
  5. Whilst holding down you mouse button, drag the task up or down in the list of tasks to re-locate it where you want it.  You will see a horizontal visual indicator line displayed as you are dragging the task to indicate where the task will be placed.
  6. When you have located the correct position for the task, release your mouse button and the task will be re-ordered to its new location.

Tip: Dragging a summary task will re-locate the summary task and all the subtasks contained within the summary task.

Tip: Dragging a task under a summary task will display a horizontal visual indicator line just below the summary task.  If you drop your task here, then the task will become a sibling of the summary task.  If you drag a little lower under the summary task, another horizontal visual indicator line will be displayed, and if you drop here, then the task will become a child of the summary task.
