What are Bookings in Projectal?

Modified on Fri, 9 Jun, 2023 at 4:10 PM

Bookings are reservations of staff or resources for current or upcoming projects.  They enable you to "pencil in" or schedule staff and resources so that you can make a staff or resource plan for your company for the current period or future period.

Bookings are associated with projects.

Bookings are typically the step before assigning staff or resources to tasks.

You can book staff onto projects via the Staff Planner.

Example: John has been booked to do some animation work for an upcoming project that will start in 2 months.

You can book resources onto projects via the Resource Planner.

Example: The company's RED EPIC-W 8K camera has been booked for use on an upcoming project that will start in 1 month.

Bookings have a name, start date, finish date and duration. By default, the initial booking name is the project name.

Bookings can have a description, notes and color to better describe the booking.

Booking Stage

Bookings can have a stage associated with them.  This helps you understand the current status of a booking.  You can create a set of stages that you want your bookings to have via the Project Stages screen in the Management screen. Typical stage values for a booking could be Draft, Pending, Approved and Rejected.

Example: A staff booking has been penciled in but has not yet been confirmed by management, so the booking's stage is set to "Booking Pending".

Example: A staff booking has been confirmed by management, so its stage has been set to "Booking Approved".
